This is the official home of “It’s Baked In,” where recipe submissions from the Champaign-Urbana community will be posted after they are submitted to the Black Joy Project at the Spurlock Museum.

The Spurlock Museum, in conjunction with The Black Joy Project, wishes to thank the members of the local community for sharing dishes what are special to them - many of which have been passed down for generations - along with instructions on how to prepare them. We share them here, as written, for the purposes of growing the culture of food, friendship, and community in the greater Champaign-Urbana area. ☀

    We're happy you're here! If you've found this page before March 26, you won't see very much here...yet.

    The It's Baked In recipe submission form will be opening on March 26th at midnight, and once folks start sharing delicious dishes, they'll start popping up here. Each recipe will be featured in its own post right here on this blog, along with a story about where it came from and why it's important to the family who enjoys it. Physical recipe packets are available at the Black Joy Project inside the Spurlock Museum.
