1. What is the goal of this survey project?
To inform future activities and program priorities for the IDPH Men’s Health Section, as well as identify community-based recommendations for services and needs.
2. What topics are considered “men’s health”?
This project is intended to assess input on health topics including, but not limited to, the following:
- Contributing factors to reduced male life expectancy.
- Chronic disease – including heart, lung, and kidney.
- Cancer – including prostate, colorectal, and lung.
- Men’s behavioral health – including suicide prevention and substance use.
- Men and engagement with the health care system.
3. How will my participation benefit me or my community?
Participation in this survey supports an improved understanding of men’s health needs throughout Illinois. Your input allows for more informed decision making, programming, and recommendations related to the needs of you and your community.
4. Will my responses be anonymous and private?
Surveys are anonymous and no names, addresses, or other personal information will be asked for within this survey. Listening sessions will be recorded, but only for immediate evaluation and review to support accurate identification of common themes and discussion topics. Recordings will not be shared or distributed and will be deleted upon completion of the project.
5. Why do I need to register for a listening session?
The name and email address used for the registration of a listening session is for internal purposes only. It will help our team prepare and share logistics with you for your registered session. This includes the dissemination of the link needed to attend virtual sessions.
6. Who can come to the listening sessions?
Any adult (age 18+) who lives or works in Illinois.
7. Can I share the survey with other people?
Yes, absolutely! The survey is open to all adult Illinois residents, and participation from as many people as possible, across all communities, will strengthen the information gathered from this project.
