  • Project Engineer-CHAMP

    The Illinois State Water Survey of the Prairie Research Institute at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has been a leader in the study of water resources for more than a century.  Our research and service programs provide citizens, industries, and government agencies at all levels with timely, science-based information and analyses necessary to manage our water resources wisely for economic development and a sustainable environment.  


    The Illinois State Water Survey is seeking a Project Engineer to serve as Principal Investigator and/or manage projects and perform engineering analyses related to surface water resources, and develop models of hydrologic and hydraulic processes.

  • Engineer-Graduate Student Hourly

    The Coordinated Hazard Assessment and Mapping Program is seeking a graduate student to conduct and/or review hydrologic and hydraulic studies, communicate results, and assist with the preparation of technical reports. 

  • IWIP Irrigation Data Management Support (Student Hourly)

    Assisting Illinois Water Inventory Program staff in maintaining the Illinois Water Inventory Program (IWIP) Database and associated well records related to irrigation reporting by entering data, evaluating data quality, evaluating historical paper records for information, conducting interviews with irrigators, and taking measurements from operating irrigation systems.   

  • Data and Information Specialist (Hourly up to 2 positions)

    Assisting with data entry and development of materials for several grant funded projects. Searching for and cataloging information from water and wastewater related websites. Writing 2-3 sentence summaries of web-based documents, media, and tools related to drinking water systems, wastewater systems, and operators for a website and accompanying database. Maintaining a web-based national events calendar. Assisting with web-based content development related to water and wastewater topics of special interest.

  • Field Research Assistant (hourly up to 5 positions)

    Field Research Assistants will work with Survey scientists to conduct statewide data collection on Illinois streams in support of the IEPA Intensive Basin Survey program.
