  • Public Health Entomology Technician (Hourly) - Illinois Natural History Survey

    We are seeking hourly technicians for seasonal field and lab work on mosquito and tick surveillance and research. Our group focuses on understanding the distribution and density of vectors of public health concern throughout the state, how environmental factors shape and are altering vector population densities, tracking invasive tick and mosquito species, and understanding the diversity of mosquito- and tickborne pathogens present in Illinois. The position is based at the Illinois Natural History Survey Medical Entomology Lab, within the University Research Park in Champaign, Illinois.

  • Fisheries/Aquatic Ecology Research Technician (Hourly): Kaskaskia Biological Station: Sullivan, Illinois

    The Kaskaskia Biological Station is seeking 1-2 hourly Research Technician to conduct field and laboratory work in support of research projects on sportfish management and invasion biology in lakes and rivers.  Job offers come with an expected commitment of 12-24 months and this position will be based out of the Kaskaskia Biological Station in Sullivan, IL.

  • Seasonal Creel/Fisheries Technician (Hourly) - Lake Michigan Biological Station

    The Lake Michigan Biological Station is looking for a Seasonal Creel/Fisheries Technician to interview shoreline and boat anglers on their fishing effort, expenditures, harvest, and biological characteristics of fish in their possession. This position will be located at the Lake Michigan Biological Station in Zion, Illinois. Creel surveys and other fieldwork will take place at several sites in Cook County, IL and Lake County, IL. 

  • Archaeological Field Technicians – Northern Illinois Field Station – Illinois State Archaeological Survey

    The Illinois State Archaeological Survey is seeking to hire Archaeological Field Technicians (Academic Hourly Assistants) to serve as excavators and surveyors capable of performing basic archaeological identification, interpretation, and recordation tasks under the direct supervision of a Research Archaeologist. Duties include, but are not limited to, participation in Phase I field surveys, Phase II site testing, Phase III archaeological mitigation projects, and associated analysis activities based at the ISAS Northern Illinois Field Station in Elgin, Illinois. These are full-time (40 hours per week), non-benefits eligible, field/laboratory positions with an hourly rate of $16 to $18 depending on qualifications.
