Kendra Kay Friar, a doctoral student in Education Policy, Organization and Leadership's Diversity and Equity program, has been named the incoming Academic Editor of the Journal of General Music Education (JGME), one of five refereed journals produced by the National Association for Music Education in association with SAGE Publications. JGME's mission is to provide a platform for practitioner-centered research designed to define and analyze contemporary issues of concern to general music education professionals teaching at levels from early childhood through high school.
Kendra is a U. of I. alum and former public school music educator who now directs elementary-level artistic and educational programming for Pacific Youth Choir in Portland, OR (https://www.pacificyouthchoir.org/).
