Andrea Kulas, an Ed.D. student in Education Policy, Organization & Leadership, has reached the semi-final round of the Image of Research competition.
The Image of Research invites students to engage creatively with their research by visualizing and articulating the importance and impact of the research experience for themselves and others.
Kulas photographed the North Bennet Street School in Boston, MA. The school is celebrated as the first traditional trade school in the United States. Kulas writes, "While North Bennet emphasized skill-building and community, earlier institutions—like manual training schools and Indigenous boarding schools—often served as tools of industrial conformity and cultural erasure."
Her project is titled A Conspiracy of Ravens: Reimagining the Role of Educators in Dismantling Oppressive Systems within Career and Technical Education.
A subset of submissions will be selected by judges as the semi-finalists. Of these, the following four awards will be given.
- First prize: $500
- Second prize: $300
- Third prize: $200
- Honorable mention: $100
- People’s Choice award: $100
The People's Choice Award competition is now open for voting through April 11.
