
Professor Emerita Lilian Katz was honored Feb. 12 with the Friend of Children Award from the Southern Early Childhood Association. The ceremony took place in Tulsa, Okla., at the organization’s annual conference.
Katz co-directs the Clearinghouse on Early Childhood and Parenting at the University of Illinois. She earned the SECA award because of her tireless efforts as a children’s advocate nationwide.
Additionally, Katz has made generous contributions to an advocacy field that supports children and families and fosters the professional growth and development of individuals working with young children and their families. During the ceremony, Katz will be presented with a personalized piece of folk art.
SECA is committed to advocating and developing improved care and education for young children and their families. The early childhood professional association has served professionals living in the South for 67 years.
