The Education Justice Project (EJP), a unit within the Department of Education Policy, Organization & Leadership in the College of Education, has been recognized with a Campus Award for Excellence in Public Engagement. The reception will take place April 26 from 4:30-6 p.m. at the I Hotel and Conference Center.
Through the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, EJP offers educational programming to incarcerated students at the Danville Correctional Center. Its mission is to build a model college-in-prison program that demonstrates the positive impacts of higher education on incarcerated people, their families, and the communities from which they come from.
The individuals receiving this year's Campus Award for Excellence in Public Engagement are Annie Abbott, Max Colon, Katherine Magerko, and Lyndsay Shand.
