Department of Education Policy, Organization & Leadership doctoral candidate Xavier Hernandez has been selected as the next director of the Asian American and Asian Resource and Cultural Center at Purdue University. Hernandez is currently a graduate assistant at the Asian American Cultural Center at the University of Illinois.
Hernandez said the interdisciplinary nature of his doctoral program in EPOL has given him a multifaceted perspective on the field of higher education that he will take with him to Purdue.
"The knowledge bases and theoretical stylings of the various divisions within EPOL have each taught me something valuable about the incredibly vast field of education," Hernandez said. "The ability to work with and learn from such an inspirational field of graduate students and faculty members has expanded my worldview in ways that I never could have imagined when I entered this institution four years ago. I am eternally grateful to Drs. Yoon Pak, Ruth Nicole Brown, and Lorenzo Baber for their guidance throughout my time at the university thus far, and I look forward to continued collaborations with the College of Education in the future."
