The Bureau of Educational Research and the College Research Committee are excited to invite College of Education researchers to apply for COVID-19 Seed Grants.
Funding could be used for a variety of reasons, and should address one or both of the following priority areas:
Priority Area 1: Novel or adapted methods of data collection and analysis. This could include either:
- Immediate research opportunities associated with our new reality, such as exploration of novel methods for data collection, supporting creation of alternative/online tools, or exploration of video conference-based interviewing (for example).
- Adapting current research to new educational realities, such as modifying current practices and methods for remote/online use, and connecting previously collected data with newer data.
Priority Area 2: Planning grants for COVID-19 specific content. Planning grants to explore new directions for research and work with collaborators to plan, develop, and submit an external funding proposal responding to new realities within the coming 12 months. Planning projects that organize PIs from multiple education areas to respond to COVID-19-specific content are encouraged; such larger scale plans will be eligible for extended development support by the Bureau.
Funding awards will be up to $5,000, with a duration of six months. Interdisciplinary projects with multiple PIs can request up to $10,000. We anticipate funding between 7 and 10 awards, depending on the availability of funds.
The PI should be faculty or AP research staff in the College of Education. The inclusion of graduate and undergraduate students as Co-PIs or project members is encouraged, emphasizing opportunities to support graduate students at risk for ongoing support.
Proposals will be reviewed on a rolling basis:
- First target submission date: Tuesday, May 18, 2020
- Additional submission dates: Tuesday, June 2, 2020 and Tuesday June 16, 2020, if funds remain.
