The College is pleased to announce that Elizabeth (Beth) Kirchgesner, office support specialist in the Office for Mathematics, Science, and Technology Education (MSTE), has been awarded the campus' Emerging Award for Excellence in Public Engagement from the Office of the Provost.
Annually, this recognition is given to up to three faculty or staff members across campus for their early career public engagement activities. Those who have demonstrated significant individual contributions to the local community, state, nation, or world through distinguished university public engagement are eligible for public engagement awards. For the purposes of these awards, distinguished public engagement is a direct extension of an individual’s disciplinary or technical expertise to the public and non-profit sector.
Beth's story and more about her public engagement excellence will be featured in Illinois News, the Celebration of Academic Service and Leadership program, and the 2021 Celebrating Academic Excellence program.
We are honored to have Beth as part of the Education at Illinois family, and greatly appreciate her contributions not only to the College and campus' mission, but to the broader Illinois and global communities, as well. Congratulations, Beth!
