Two alumni and one graduate student have been appointed to leadership positions in Champaign Unit 4 School district schools.
Esther Ferguson, '99 Elementary Education, has been appointed as principal at Champaign's Barkstall Elementary School. Ferguson was previously assistant principal and summer principal at Garden Hills STEM Academy. Ferguson began her career in Champaign Schools as a teacher at Franklin Middle School. She also taught in schools in Evansville, IN.
Alek Mann, '21 Ed.M. EPOL, has been appointed as assistant principal of Westview Elementary. A two-time Illinois graduate, Mr. Mann was previously a band/choir teacher at Urbana and Mattoon schools.
Current EPOL Ed.M. student Jeremy Dassow was appointed to be bilingual K-8 dean of students at International Prep Academy. He has worked for Rantoul City Schools and St. Joseph Schools and has taught 5th grade at International Prep Academy since last year.
