Optica has reached out with an exciting opportunity, they arelaunching the
Amplify Optics Immersion Program,
15-18 October 2022, that willhost 50 Black undergraduate or master's level physics, chemistry, biology andengineering students to participate in a program Saturday-Tuesday during Optica’s Annual meeting
Frontiers in Optics (FiO), located in Rochester, NY. They will have some special programming and be able to experience parts of FiO.This program is for students interested in learning more about light and light-based technologies impacting various fields such as biomedical, imaging andsensing, communications, the environment, lasers and laser technology, and
quantum research and technology. The student does not have to be currentlyenrolled in an optics course – just have a strong interest to learn more aboutthe field, research and career opportunities.
For the
program, students are requested to pay a USD100 registration fee (though grants are available), and with that, they will receive from Optica:
- Programming that will introduce attendees to research and careeropportunities in optics
- Participation in the APS/Laser Science undergraduate symposium anddinner
- Airfare to/from the conference (or appropriate travel options for locals)
- Lodging with check-in of 15 October and check-out of 18 October
- Students will share a room with another student of the samegender
- Registration for Frontiers in Optics, Optica's annual meeting
- Most meals including dinner on 15 October, all meals on 16-17 October, and breakfast and lunch on 18 October.
