  • Summer 2024 XR Opportunity for U of I Undergrads through CI MED Jump Simulation Center

    A new Extended Reality (XR) internship opportunity is being offered by the Carle Illinois College of Medicine Jump Simulation Center at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, beginning on June 3, 2024 and ending on July 26, 2024.  In this internship, students will LEARN about the process of designing and developing XR environments, CREATE the XR environments based on the physical counterparts, and TRANSFORM the current medical training procedure.

    The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) is currently accepting submissions for the 2019 Undergraduate Research Symposium (URS), set for Thursday, April 18. The URS is the signature event of Undergraduate Research Week (April 14-20), and brings together students, faculty, and staff from all disciplines on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus, as well as corporate partners and sponsors, to learn more about undergraduate research and its potential to change the world. Over the course of the day, students present their work in concurrent oral and poster presentations (including creative performances), the breadth and scope of which reflect not only the wide range of academic disciplines at the University of Illinois, but also speak to the caliber of our undergraduates.

  • Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (URAP @ UI)

    Undergraduate students selected to be part of the program will begin work with their mentors in Spring 2023. As part of the program, students will (1) attend regular weekly class meetings (GC 295, Introduction to Undergraduate Research, 3 credit hours) with OUR instructors; and (2) work one-on-one with their research mentors, an average of 5-6 hours per week. As part of the course requirement, students will complete a final project, consisting of a poster, to be presented during the Undergraduate Research Symposium, an annual event sponsored by OUR.

    Critical Skills Master's Program

    Sandia's Critical Skills Master's Program (CSMP) is a special, entry-level hiring program, which provides new or recent technical bachelor's degree candidates the opportunity to pursue a fully funded Masters of Science degree.     The Renewable Energy Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (REMRSEC) REU program invites exceptional undergraduate math, science, and engineering students to participate in a ten-week summer research program addressing fundamental materials issues related to the science and technology of renewable energy. These highly interdisciplinary studies focus on multiple areas that are open to all materials science, engineering, physics, chemistry, mathematics, chemical engineering, and computer science majors.

    Benefits include a $4,500 stipend, on-campus housing, travel reimbursement, and financial support to present research results at an upcoming national conference.   • USC Viterbi School of Engineering-Summer Research

    The USC Viterbi Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) provides outstanding undergraduate students with the opportunity to compete for positions that allows them to spend 8 weeks in Los Angeles working on cutting-edge research projects under the supervision of Viterbi faculty and current PhD students. The USC Viterbi SURE program will help participants develop research skills and build important relationships that will expand their academic horizons and further their research careers. The overarching goal of SURE is to help students develop an understanding of research in engineering disciplines, and preparing students with skills for successful academic careers in engineering graduate programs.

    All USC Viterbi SURE fellows are provided with a $5,000 stipend, campus housing, travel to and from Los Angeles, health insurance, educational and social activities during the program.

  • NACME/Chevron Scholarship Opportunity for non-NACME Scholars

    NACME was awarded a grant from the Chevron Corporation to provide additional scholarship support for four (4) students at your institution.  Successful applicants will receive a $5,000 scholarship award for one year, for the academic year 2017-2018. Please note that this scholarship is for non-NACME Scholars.

    Attached is a copy of the application which includes the guidelines for the scholarship.  Eligible students must be freshmen, sophomores and juniors who are pursuing the following engineering disciplines: mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, computer science, etc .

    The "Power Reading Course" is designed to help students improve their reading speed, concentration, comprehension and productivity. This is a non-graded, non-credit, twelve session course that meets for 50 minutes on a M-W or T-TH sequence. Sessions will be available twice a semester. Books and materials will be provided.     Sign up for 2 credit hours of Academic Strategies HDFS 199 for Spring 2023.  The course is designed to improve the academic performance of students who struggle with study habits and academic responsibilities due to autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, dyslexia or other neurodiverse conditions.

  • 2022-2023 Kevin T. Early Memorial Scholarship

    Applications are now being accepted for the 2022-2023 Kevin T. Early Memorial Scholarship, a poetry prize open to first-year undergraduates in all majors.  It awards $2000 to a student with freshman standing at UIUC for the 2022-2023 school year.

    The deadline for application is January 31, 2023. 

    For consideration, students must submit 5 poems via email to John Dudek, the Associate Director of Creative Writing in the Department of English (Jdudek4@illinois.edu).  The complete submission should not exceed 5 pages (So 1 poem to a page).  Submissions should be attached to the email as .docx (Word) files.

    The subject line of the email should read: “EARLY PRIZE SUBMISSION: Last name.”

  • Lurie Cancer Center Undergraduate Summer Research Internships

    Administrators at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University invite undergraduate students interested in biomedical and health sciences to participate in leading-edge cancer research and career exploration.  Participants work full-time (35-40 hours/week) under the mentorship of top cancer researchers in state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities to help advance novel research projects in cell and molecular biology, cancer immunology, metabolism, clinical investigation, developmental therapeutics, genomics, population science, health disparities, bioinformatics and other focus areas.  Immersive research training is complemented by faculty lectures, skills workshops, and career development activities.

    Undergraduate students may participate in one of two cancer research internships at the Lurie Cancer Center:

    • ACS-DICR American Cancer Society Diversity in Cancer Research Internship
    • NU-CURE Northwestern University Cancer-Focused Undergraduate Research Experience
