The Counseling Center is following the guidance of the University as the COVID-19 situation continues to change. Because we are considered a health care facility, masks are still required in the Counseling Center. We will provide any updates we receive on this page. If you have questions about telehealth, please call the Counseling Center at 217-333-3704.
Our group counseling offerings will be a hybrid approach with some groups meeting in person and others being on Zoom.
Outreach programming can be provided either online or in person. For our skill-building programming, we will be doing a hybrid approach. Please check our website a few weeks after the semester begins for specifics. For other outreach, you can request an in-person or online outreach—depending on what works best for your needs. Please make sure to specify what you’re envisioning when you submit a request.
Students who are not on campus should note the following:
- State law requires students to be located in Illinois to receive ongoing telehealth (online) counseling. However, if students who are currently outside of Illinois have mental health concerns, we encourage you to schedule a phone consultation. The consultation is not therapy, but you’ll be able to speak with a counselor about your concerns, and they can suggest alternatives for you to get assistance.
- Students who have United Healthcare through the university may continue to access online counseling via healthiestyou. If you access this site through your UnitedHealthcare app, you can bypass the necessary insurance information requirement. If you need help, contact customer service at 217-333-0165 or email insure@illinois.edu.
- If you need to speak with someone after hours, please contact the Rosecrance Crisis Line at 217-359-4141 or call 911.
