We are excited to be able to offer more in-person services for Fall 2021. Most individual counseling sessions will be held at the Counseling Center, which is located on the second floor of the Turner Student Services Building at 610 E. John Street in Champaign. Telethealth will be offered on a limited basis when it is appropriate. To determine if you are a good candidate for telehealth, please check with your counselor or call 217-333-3704.
We will continue to offer group counseling sessions via telehealth because of space limitations.
Outreach programming can be provided either online or in-person. For our skill-building offerings, we will be doing a hybrid approach. Please check our website a few weeks after the semester begins for specifics. For other outreach, you can request an in-person or online outreach—depending on what works best for your needs. Please make sure to specify what you’re envisioning when you submit a request.
Students who are not on campus should note the following:
- State law requires students to be located in Illinois to receive ongoing telehealth (online) counseling. However, if students who are currently outside of Illinois have mental health concerns, we encourage you to schedule a phone consultation. The consultation is not therapy, but you’ll be able to speak with a counselor about your concerns, and they can suggest alternatives for you to get assistance.
- We will continue to offer several online programming options about topics such as perfectionism, RIO (mindfulness and emotional acceptance), improving focus, managing test/performance anxiety, and managing time. These are open to any Illinois student, and many students have reported these workshops have helped them greatly with mental health concerns they are having. For more information, please visit our website.
- Students who have United Healthcare through the university may continue to access online counseling via healthiestyou. If you access this site through your UnitedHealthcare app, you can bypass the necessary insurance information requirement. If you need help, contact customer service at 217-333-0165 or email email@example.com.
- If you need to speak with someone after hours, please contact the Rosecrance Crisis Line at 217-359-4141 or call 911.
