The Counseling Center expresses condolences to those mourning the loss of victims in the wake of last Friday’s attacks in Paris. We’re relieved that University of Illinois students, faculty, and staff currently in Paris are safe, but we realize the possibility there may be some in our university community personally affected by this tragedy and many others who are experiencing distress due to violent nature of the attacks and the uncertainty and fear the attacks brought to the forefront.
If you feel you would benefit from speaking to someone, we have a number of trained professionals who offer confidential consultations. We’re located in the Student Services Building at the corner of Sixth and John Streets in Champaign and are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. We schedule first time appointments on a same day basis. Our offices open at 7:50 a.m. and we recommend that you call early as our appointments often fill quickly. If you feel that you need to see a counselor immediately, please come to the Counseling Center. If you need to speak with someone after 5 p.m., please call the Crisis Line at 217-359-4141.
