The Counseling Center is deeply saddened by the horrible events of early Sunday morning in which George Korchev, a visitor to our community, died, and five others were injured. Our thoughts go out to everyone affected by this tragedy. We understand that many students may be having a range of responses and can benefit from assistance sorting through their experiences and/or guidance with coping strategies.
We are located in the Student Services Building at the corner of Sixth and John Streets in Champaign and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please call 217-333-3704 for an appointment beginning at 7:50 a.m. Monday, or stop by if you feel you need to see a counselor immediately. If you need to speak with someone about mental health concerns after 5 p.m., please call the Crisis Line at 217-359-4141. The Emergency Dean is also available at 217-333-0050 after hours to assist students with issues that cannot wait until regular business hours.
