Update, 7/3/17: As events of Ms. Zhang’s case have unfolded the past few days, the Counseling Center wishes to reiterate our thoughts and support for Ms. Zhang’s family and for those who are affected by this tragedy. It is difficult to learn that someone who was formerly part of our campus community is charged with her abduction. Students, please see below for information about how receive services at the Counseling Center if you would like to talk to someone.

The Counseling Center is concerned about Yingying Zhang, a visiting scholar to our campus from China, who was last seen Friday, June 9. We understand that many on our campus are worried that someone in our community could go missing and may be frightened both for Ms. Zhang’s and their own safety. Our thoughts are with those who know Ms. Zhang as we join them in hoping for her safe return. The Counseling Center is here for any student who wants assistance sorting through their experiences and/or guidance with coping strategies.

We’re located in the Student Services Building at the corner of Sixth and John Streets in Champaign and are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. We schedule first-time appointments on a same-day basis. Our offices open at 7:50 a.m. and we recommend that you call early as appointments can fill. If you feel that you need to see a counselor immediately, please come to the Counseling Center. If you need to speak with someone after 5 p.m., please call the Crisis Line at 217-359-4141.
