Please check back regularly for updates.
The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) is committed to safely supporting students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign during these unprecedented times.
As you may know, undergraduate students will have the opportunity to conduct research both in-person and remotely in the fall 2020 & spring 2021 semesters (please see the University of Illinois’ COVID-19 webpage for the latest campus updates). We encourage students to do so if they feel they are able to do so safely and in accordance with the guidance from your research group and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In August, the Office of Undergraduate Research published guidelines for undergraduate researchers and mentors which can be found here: COVID-19 Guidelines for Undergraduate Researchers
Transitioning our programs from in-person to online was a significant undertaking but was a success thanks to the collective work and resilience of our wonderful staff. Looking forward to the spring 2021 semester, all OUR programs and events will continue to be conducted remotely. These include:
- Virtual workshops (Value of Undergraduate Research Workshop, Getting Started in Undergraduate Research Workshop, Proposal Writing for Undergraduate Researchers Workshop, Giving *Virtual* Undergraduate Research Presentations, and *Virtual* Poster Presentation and Design Workshop)
- One-on-one virtual advising meetings with OUR staff and ambassadors
- Illinois Undergraduate Research Ambassadors Program
- 2021 Undergraduate Research Week and the Symposium
OUR will again offer Research Support and Conference Travel Grants. However, all research and travel funded by OUR grants must be conducted safely and in accordance with guidelines and policies set by the University of Illinois.
