Please check back regularly for updates.
The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) is committed to safely supporting students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign during these unprecedented times.
As you may know, undergraduate students will have the opportunity to conduct research both in-person and remotely in the fall 2020 semester (please see the University of Illinois’ COVID-19 webpage for the latest campus updates). We encourage students to do so if they feel they are able to do so safely and in accordance with the guidance from your research group and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Office of Undergraduate Research has published guidelines for undergraduate researchers which can be found here: COVID-19 Guidelines for Undergraduate Researchers
We will continue to offer all of our normal fall programming this upcoming semester. However, to ensure the safety of our staff and the students we serve, all OUR programs for the fall 2020 semester will be conducted remotely. This includes:
- Virtual workshops (Value of Undergraduate Research Workshop, Getting Started in Undergraduate Research Workshop, and Proposal Writing for Undergraduate Researchers Workshop)
- One-on-one virtual advising meetings with OUR staff and ambassadors
- Informational meetings for the Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program
- Illinois Undergraduate Research Ambassadors Program
Research Support and Conference Travel Grants will proceed as normal for the fall semester. However, all research and travel funded by OUR grants must be conducted safely and in accordance with guidelines and policies set by the University of Illinois.
We will continue to monitor state and CDC guidelines and if it is safe to do so, we plan to transition back to in-person programming for the spring 2021 semester, including the in-person Undergraduate Research Symposium in April 2021.
