As shared yesterday, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is offering all students on Study Abroad (SA) programs this semester the opportunity to leave their program and return to the U.S. or to their home country. Students in Italy are required to depart the country. Students in South Korea are advised to do likewise.
This email contains directions for sharing information with the University to assist you in your return. Please note: we identify the appropriate contacts by topic (Travel, Reimbursements, Housing, Academics) below. If you reply directly to this message, your question may not be answered in a timely fashion.
The University is offering assistance to address challenges that might arise from this decision. You may wish to review yesterday’s email, University of Illinois Study Abroad: Early Departure, to refresh details. Your college and the campus administration will work closely with you to offer alternatives and assistance. Reviewing and completing the survey linked below is the next step in the process. We summarize only the essential information below, so be sure to read the survey form closely.

Making Travel Arrangements. Contact your airline carrier or travel agent who booked your ticket and request a change. Most major airlines are waiving change fees but be sure to ask. If you cannot rebook your ticket from your original ticketing party or if you do not have a return ticket, please contact Corporate Travel Planners at uofi@ctp-travel.com or by phone at 210-524-3317 during business hours. After 7pm CST, contact 1-303-801-2331 and select the business option. Reference “University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Study Abroad Evacuation” when calling. If unable to book a flight, please contact iip-fin@illinios.edu for additional assistance.
Reimbursements. You must submit requests for reimbursements within 30 days of your departure from your study abroad location. Any request must include receipts and supporting documentation. The reimbursement form is here: https://forms.illinois.edu/sec/6651617. For additional assistance, contact iip-fin@illinios.edu for information.
Housing. To stay with University Housing for the remainder of this semester, complete the online Spring Only Contract for Spring 2020 at https://housing.illinois.edu/apply-now. Upon logging into the online contract, you will be prompted for the passcode: Alma1867. You must complete your contract by March 13 to receive your assignment prior to your arrival on campus. University Housing will email your housing assignment, with further instructions related to move-in, to your Illinois email address within two business days of receiving your completed contract. For questions, please contact the Housing Information Office at housing@illinois.edu.
Academics. To better assist you, your college needs information related to your academic plans. The survey linked in this email asks about your return plans, distance-learning options, the types of courses taken abroad, and other information. For questions, please contact your college academic affairs office.
