Out of an abundance of caution, International Safety and Security is sharing U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) information regarding monkeypox being elevated to Alert Level 2, Practice Enhanced Precautions. Today’s Travel Notice notes “Risk to the general public is low.” Although we anticipate minimal risk to university travelers, we are sharing key CDC advice to keep you informed:
- If you experience a rash, with or without fever and chills, seek medical care immediately.
- Avoid contact with sick people, especially if skin lesions are present.
- Avoid contact with wild animals (rats, squirrels) whether dead or alive.
