Dear Colleagues,
I write to bring to your attention an update in Provost Communication #9 and Provost Communication #26 regarding the statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion activities. Please share with faculty members in your unit that the DEI statement will remain optional for candidates through the 2025-26 academic year. Whether to make the statement a requirement is currently under review, as called for by these Provost Communications, and information about any updates will be shared with all units.
Please be reminded that faculty members continue to have the choice to include a statement in their P&T dossier to highlight their contributions and that units may consider those activities as part of their evaluations. During this period, as is the case at present, a candidate who chooses not to prepare the statement faces no penalty or negative inference from this decision.
