Greetings,
I am pleased to announce that Rhonda Perry, who currently serves as campus legal counsel for the University of Illinois Springfield, will assume the position of deputy university counsel, effective immediately. Rhonda’s appointment is subject to approval by the Board of Trustees.
Rhonda joined the Office of University Counsel in the Urbana office in 2006 and became campus legal counsel for the University of Illinois Springfield in 2014. Over her years of tremendous service, Rhonda has provided outstanding legal advice to university administrators, faculty, and staff on a wide range of topics. As a key member of our leadership team for almost 10 years, she has made many valuable contributions to our office. Her legal skills, experience, understanding of the interplay between the University of Illinois System and campus operations, proven leadership, and ability to work effectively with others are well recognized.
Prior to joining our office, Rhonda also gained valuable experience working as assistant city attorney for the City of Champaign, in private practice, and in the Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office.
We will send additional communications in the near future regarding the UIS campus legal counsel position Rhonda currently holds. During the transition, Rhonda will continue to be the primary legal contact for UIS in support of its critical mission.
Please join me in welcoming Rhonda to her new role!
Scott Rice
