Dear Colleagues,
We are writing to share that Vicky Gress, Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Budget and Resource Planning, will retire from the University at the end of July 2023. We are incredibly grateful for the leadership she has provided our University.
Vicky has been an invaluable member of the Illinois business and finance community for more than 20 years. With her long record of collaboration and collegiality, Vicky has established herself as one of the most trusted and respected administrators at our institution.
Vicky started her career in the Department of Computer Science before serving as Executive Assistant Dean for Administration in the Grainger College of Engineering. Since she joined the Office of Budget and Resource Planning in 2014, Vicky has helped lead the design and implementation of our new budget model. She has done an outstanding job as associate chancellor and vice provost since December 2022, and in an acting capacity after Paul Ellinger assumed his new responsibilities with the University of Illinois System in 2021. Throughout her service, she has always recognized that financial decisions directly impact the success of the University’s fundamental educational and scholarly mission as well as the ability of faculty, staff, and students to achieve their goals. Her leadership will be missed.
We are preparing to launch a search for a permanent position in the coming weeks, and we will announce an interim soon. Vicky’s final day at the University will be July 31.
Please join us in congratulating Vicky Gress on her years of service at this University. We wish her the very best in her next chapter.
Sincerely,
Robert J. Jones
Chancellor
