Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has joined the global education network Universitas 21, effective October 1.
Illinois is the fifth North American institution represented in the U21 network and the first from the Midwest. As a member university, Illinois students, faculty, and staff will have access to several unique opportunities in collaboration with institutions from more than 20 countries. Professor Jenny Dixon, Provost of Universitas 21, prepared this video to welcome Illinois to the network.
U21’s activities fall into three areas of focus: education innovation, researcher engagement, and student experience. Within these three distinct areas, funding is allocated to support cross-member programs for students, faculty, and staff. Such programs include early- and mid-career researcher workshops, online trainings, student internships, and leadership development course among others. All member-led projects and programs aim to enrich education and research through internationalization and open dialogue.
Information about U21 opportunities for Illinois students, faculty, and staff will be shared on the U21 webpage of the Global Relations website. The U21 website (universitas21.com) provides further details about the network and its member institutions.
I encourage all members of our community to take advantage of the opportunities provided by U21. Specific questions about the network and programs that require an institutional nomination may be directed to Global Relations in Illinois International at iip-globalrelations@illinois.edu.
Sincerely,
Reitumetse Obakeng Mabokela
