Dear Colleagues,
I wanted to share a general reminder that the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) enables the University of Illinois System to provide COVID-19 vaccine-related time off to faculty and staff through September 30, 2021.
Employees of the University of Illinois System who meet the qualifying criteria, may now be eligible for leave related to accompanying or caring for a related individual receiving a COVID-19 vaccination.
Effective July 29, 2021, new qualifying reasons for an employee to take leave include:
- accompanying an individual to obtain immunization related to COVID-19, or
- caring for an individual who is recovering from an injury, disability, illness, or condition related to the immunization;
- previously existing qualifying leave reasons provided by the ARPA continue to be in effect.
Please share this with your staff who manage leave time or others with personnel responsibilities in your area. Your staff who process transactions via the Human Resources Front End (HRFE) system will receive more detailed instructions.
Visit the System HR Families First Coronavirus Response Act page for more details about leave time for COVID-19 vaccination purposes, including pay and limitations.
Please contact your HR office with any questions:
Sincerely,
Jami Painter
