Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to announce that Laurie R. Johnson has been selected as Interim Director of the Campus Honors Program (CHP). Professor Johnson will begin her appointment on May 16, 2021. As Interim Director of CHP, Dr. Johnson will work to maintain the traditional strengths of the program, while broadening the base of faculty involvement and enriching collaborative relationships between students and faculty.
Dr. Johnson currently serves as Interim Associate Director of the School of Literatures, Cultures, and Linguistics, and as Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures. She also has campus affiliations as Professor in the Program in Comparative and World Literature and in the Unit for Criticism and Interpretive Theory.
Dr. Johnson received the BA in International Politics and German Studies from Northwestern University, and the MA and PhD in German from Washington University. She is the recipient of several teaching awards and has taught and conducted research at public and private universities, a liberal arts college, and a community college. In addition, Dr. Johnson has coached faculty around the country for the Faculty Success Program at the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity.
I am confident that Dr. Johnson’s accomplishments as a teacher and scholar, along with her leadership expertise, will make her an ideal leader for the Campus Honors Program.
