As we focus on building a resilient, high-performing organization, one of our greatest opportunities lies in strengthening the capabilities of our supervisors.
I’m pleased to share a new certification program, Supervisor Fundamentals, an interactive and practical program designed to equip new supervisors with the foundational skills, knowledge, and behaviors to lead teams effectively. This program is intentionally built to translate core concepts into real-world applications, ensuring immediate impact on team performance and engagement. The target audience for Supervisor Fundamentals is supervisors and managers within their first three years in the role.
Through hands-on activities, scenario-based learning, and facilitated discussions, participants develop critical capabilities on the following topics:
- Step Into Supervision
- Building Trust & Team Culture
- Everyday Performance Management
- Formal Performance Management
- Navigating Complex Situations
- Rebalancing Culture After Disruption
Supervisors have a direct and lasting influence on trust, engagement, and workplace climate. What makes this program especially valuable is its focus on the everyday moments that define culture. This program empowers supervisors to grow in their abilities to lead with clarity, build trust through consistent actions, and effectively support their teams.
Registration for the program will open next week. More information about the program can be found on the Illinois Human Resources Supervisor Development website.
