Dear Colleagues,
The Illinois minimum wage will increase to $13.00 per hour on January 1, 2023. Please share this with your hiring managers or others with human resources and budgeting responsibilities in your area. Individuals in your area who process transactions via the Human Resources Front End (HRFE) system will receive more detailed instructions.
The hourly rate for all hourly-paid employees who currently earn less than $13.00 per hour will be updated by an automated program. These employees will begin earning the new minimum wage for any work hours reported on and after January 1, 2023.
In most cases, no action will be required by your departments/units, and they will be notified if manual corrections are needed. HRFE users will be sent special handling instructions for student appointments and hourly jobs with end-dates after January 1, 2023 so the new hourly rate can be automatically updated.
Departments will need to monitor and adjust work hours for students with Federal Work Study to ensure the maximum allowable earnings are not exceeded.
