Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that Bill Bernhard has agreed to serve as Interim Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Budget and Resource Planning Designate, beginning Aug. 1, pending University of Illinois Board of Trustees approval. He will also continue his role as Executive Vice Provost for Academic Affairs.
Most recently, Bill served as Interim Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Provost for the last year. Based on his leadership experience, we know Bill will continue in the spirit of collaboration to provide strategic advice, guidance to the university in areas related to budget, finance, planning and resource allocation, and leadership and management of the campus budget office.
Prior to serving as Interim Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Provost, Bill served as Executive Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Associate Provost for Faculty Development. Before he joined the Provost's Office, he was head of the Department of Political Science. He holds a B.A. in government from Cornell University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from Duke University.
Please join us in thanking Bill for his willingness to serve in this role. In the coming weeks, we will launch a national search to identify a permanent Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Budget and Resource Planning.
Sincerely,
Robert J. Jones
