Dear Colleagues,
Since my arrival at Illinois, the members of my leadership team have provided consistent, strategic, and collaborative direction to ensure the success and excellence of the university’s academic mission.
I am pleased to share a recent change in titles for two leaders of this team, which formally adds Vice Provost to their titles.
As our university’s Chief Information Officer, Mairéad Martin leads our university’s information technology strategy to support students, faculty, and staff toward success. Her new title in this role is Vice Provost for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer.
Wojtek Chodzko-Zajko serves as dean of the Graduate College, leading university-wide efforts to ensure excellence in graduate education. His new title in this role is Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Dean of the Graduate College.
These new titles are consistent with the majority of our Big Ten peers and more accurately reflect the level of responsibility, duties, and collaboration of these positions within the Office of the Provost and across the university. As a technical matter, these title changes are labeled “interim” until approved by the Board of Trustees.
I thank Vice Provosts Martin and Chodzko-Zajko for the leadership and support they will continue to provide the University of Illinois and their commitment to ensuring excellence and fulfilling the mission of the University of Illinois.
Sincerely,
John Coleman
Provost
