Dear Colleagues,
On Saturday, Feb. 11 through Sunday, Feb. 12, Administrative Information Technology Services (AITS) will conduct a full failover test of production services such as Banner, HR Front End, Research Administration and Enterprise Data Warehouse, etc.
Systems will be unavailable during the failover and failback times. The timeline for this event is being advertised as 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, but we anticipate that services will be available sooner than the 12-hour window advertised for both days.
Our expectation is that all systems will function normally during the test, however, there could be unexpected issues. Multiple failover tests have been conducted successfully in isolated test environments, but this will be the first live failover test attempted. AITS will continuously monitor the systems and have all resources available to resolve any issues that might arise.
More information regarding this event including impacted systems can be found on the AITS disaster recovery site at https://www.aits.uillinois.edu/services/professional_services/disaster_recovery. To check the status of the systems during the event, please refer to the system status page at https://status.uillinois.edu/SystemStatus/jsp/view_events.jsp?eventId=6155&callFrom=currentEventPage&pageId=CC.
This is a significant milestone for the university to be able to fully test our IT disaster recovery capabilities and will help us ensure continued availability of critical systems should a disaster occur. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at aitscommunications@uillinois.edu.
Sincerely,
Nyle Bolliger
Sr. Assistant Vice President of IT Services and Operations
Administrative Information Technology Services (AITS)
