Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to inform you about the launch of FABPlus, a new inventory management system that has been developed to enhance each of our universities' asset tracking capabilities. This new tool was created by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and is now also available to the University of Illinois Chicago and the University of Illinois Springfield. Unit contacts will receive detailed instructions and support for its use later today.
FABPlus is designed to complement our existing FABweb system. It allows colleges, departments and units to track assets both above and below the $2,500 threshold. This includes items such as laptops, desktops, tablets, phones and monitors.
This new tool is optional to use, providing units the flexibility to choose what works best for their needs. Unit contacts will be provided with the following information to help them get started with FABPlus:
- Instructions on logging into FABPlus.
- Guidance on establishing an MOU.
- Opportunities to explore available training resources.
This project, a result of the Operational Excellence initiative, marks a significant step forward in streamlining our asset management processes. Additionally, it reflects the shared efforts of staff to better support our universitywide operations. I want to thank the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation for designing this helpful tool, and the Strategic Project Management Office for leading the launch efforts. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about FABPlus, please contact OVCRI-businessoffice@illinois.edu.
Thank you for your attention and continued commitment to enhancing operational efficiency.
Sincerely,
Paul Redman
Executive Associate Provost for Budget & Resource Planning
