Beginning in Fall 2026, we will introduce an updated and expanded version of the Human Resources Series for Supervisors and Managers series (HR Series) titled Supervisor Fundamentals. This evolution reflects feedback from campus and will provide the core skills supervisors need today to succeed at Illinois. Supervisor Fundamentals is a key component of our broader vision to build a comprehensive suite of learning and support resources that help supervisors build confidence, navigate challenges, and lead effectively.
Please note that the HR Series will not be replaced, but rather refreshed—building on what has worked while expanding to meet today’s challenges. Since 2007, the HR Series has provided campus supervisors and managers with essential knowledge of human resources policies and guiding principles, including Provost Communications, CAM Policies, and Civil Service Policy and Rules. Through this free series, participants gain confidence in interpreting and applying university policies, rules, and procedures with consistency and clarity.
Facilitators include representatives from Illinois Human Resources; the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; Public Safety; and the Office of Threat Assessment.
- Participants learn to:
- Manage conflict on the job
- Address common HR issues with confidence
- Deliver effective, timely, performance-based feedback
- Foster a positive and productive work environment
A key factor in the success of the HR Series has been your continued support in recommending the program to your supervisory staff. We sincerely thank you for that commitment—and ask for your support once again as we open registration for this final year.
Important Note: The next two semesters will be the final opportunity for participants to complete their HR Series Completion Certificates.
Thank you in advance for supporting employee attendance and for your continued investment in the professional development of our campus workforce. For further information, please contact Employee Learning and Organizational Effectiveness at ihr-learning@illinois.edu or (217) 333-8342.
