The Center for Social and Behavioral Science (CSBS) is pleased to announce that the application for the Policy and Research Legislative Fellows Program for 2024-25 is now open. This non-partisan initiative, supported by the Office of Public Engagement, matches graduate students at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with state legislators representing Champaign, Urbana and neighboring districts to collaborate on policy research projects that can inform public policy and help make Illinois a better place live.
The Program is open to all UIUC graduate students eligible to hold an RA position. In addition to working with a local legislator, students participate in on-campus educational and professional development programming related to public policy and policy research. Potential areas for research projects include, but are not limited to, child welfare, criminal justice, education, the environment, healthcare, housing, and workforce development. Learn more about current and past placements and projects here.
The fellowship will begin in May 2024 and end in May 2025. The deadline to apply is January 15 at 11:59 p.m. There will be an info session on December 7 from 12-1pm on Zoom (register here). Students are encouraged to attend the info session, but information is also available at the website. Direct any questions to Elsa Augustine (elsaa@illinois.edu).
