Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce Professor Amy Santos has been selected to serve as Acting Executive Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, pending approval by the Board of Trustees. Her title until officially approved will be Acting Executive Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Designate. She begins in this role today.
Prior to being named Acting Executive Vice Provost Designate, Dr. Santos served as Associate Provost for Faculty Development. In this role, she assisted with processes and policies related to faculty development and success, including faculty mentoring, support for pre-tenure and mid-career faculty, career paths for specialized faculty and leadership development. She also oversaw new faculty orientation, mid-career faculty programming and the dual-career academic couples program.
Prof. Santos is a distinguished scholar focusing on young children with disabilities and their families within the context of early intervention and early childhood special education services. Prior to her appointment as Associate Provost, Prof. Santos served as Interim Head of the Department of Special Education in the College of Education from 2016 to 2017, was a Provost Fellow for Faculty Development and Diversity from 2015 to 2016 and has served on multiple campus committees including DRIVE, Student Learning Outcomes and Gender Equity Council.
I am grateful to Prof. Santos for leading our university in her new role and am confident she will continue to move our great university forward during this period of transition.
