Dear Colleagues,
Last week, International Student and Scholar Services communicated newly issued F and J immigration regulations to international students, scholars, and the broader campus community. Although federal guidance is still evolving, the regulations published by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are expected to go into effect on September 15, 2026, with some potential exceptions. These changes will have a significant impact on length of time international students and scholars may be initially admitted to the United States and will also affect academic program flexibility.
ISSS will host an informational webinar for academic advisors and university staff on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. This first webinar will focus solely on international student impacts. Registration is required to attend.
The webinar will summarize the information communicated to our international community, the expected changes and impact to the university community, and attempt to answer questions attendees may have based on our current understanding of the regulations. The webinar will not be recorded.
A second webinar for university staff who support international scholars will occur next week. A communication to department contacts with registration information is forthcoming.
