Dear Colleagues,
As you may know, the Office of the Provost has been working diligently over the last year to streamline the academic program proposal process, which includes proposals for new programs and the revision of existing programs, to better support our units. I am excited to share our current efforts.
Our office has developed a template to assist sponsors with responding to key questions from IBHE related to a proposals alignment with their strategic plan, A Thriving Illinois. Also, our team is working with the Office of the Registrar to refine CIM-P, the system used for submitting academic program proposals. The questions in the system will reflect those in the IBHE template which will streamline the proposal writing process.
In addition, I am happy to announce that our office has hired a Coordinator for Educational Programs to facilitate the course and academic program proposal processes as well as provide support to academic units and individual sponsors with navigating the governance process. Brooke Newell who joined our office last month, is serving in this role. In her previous roles on campus, she worked extensively with the course and program approval process. Her experience has already influenced the system and process efficiencies in our office.
We are pleased to have Brooke as a part of our team. She and Kathy Martensen, Associate Provost for Educational Programs and Success Initiatives, are developing new ways to engage with CIM users and to provide training and support for sponsors, departments, and colleges. Brooke will be actively reaching out to sponsors as they engage in the proposal process.
Sincerely,
Andreas C. Cangellaris
