Dear Colleagues,
We are writing today to let you know that Dale Wright will be serving as Interim Vice Chancellor for Advancement and Interim Senior Vice President of the Foundation, pending University of Illinois Board of Trustees approval. While the appointment is pending approval from the Board, the title will be Designate. We will begin a national search for a permanent leader as soon as possible.
Dale is an Associate Vice Chancellor for Advancement at Urbana, where he provides strategic leadership and mentorship to advancement officers, deans, and academic leaders across the campus. With over 25 years of experience in higher education and nonprofit fundraising, Dale has led successful alumni engagement initiatives, secured major and principal gifts, and contributed to three comprehensive capital campaigns exceeding $1 billion each.
He continues to contribute to the broader advancement field through his active engagement with the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) as a speaker and faculty member at conferences and major events and his service as a member of the CASE Commission on Philanthropy and a CASE Laureate. His excellence as a teacher and mentor was recognized with CASE’s Crystal Apple Award for teaching.
We will schedule a meeting with university leadership in the coming days to discuss our plans for the interim period. If you have any questions about specific projects or issues as we move forward, please feel free to contact one of us directly.
Best regards,
Robert J. Jones
