Dear Colleagues,
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is in the early stages of applying for the 2024 Cycle of the Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement, in our effort to be reclassified as a community-engaged institution by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Our campus was selected as an inaugural recipient of this classification in 2008 and again in 2015, resulting in high profile national recognition for our commitment to community engagement.
A questionnaire to document the activities of your unit that contribute to the campus mission of community engagement has been developed as part of the application process. I am requesting that a representative from your unit (college, institute, center, or department) collect and submit data on community engagement programs through the following online questionnaire. We strongly encourage submission of reports at the individual unit level so that we have the most accurate and relevant data available.

The deadline to submit your response to the Office of the Chancellor – Public Engagement has been extended to October 24, 2022.
Questions regarding this request may be directed to Penny Nigh (nigh@illinois.edu). Thank you for supporting the community engagement mission of our campus.
Sincerely,
Wanda E. Ward
Executive Associate Chancellor for Public Engagement
