Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Luis Canales will join the Office of the Vice Provost for International Affairs and Global Strategies as the Associate Provost for Illinois International on April 1, 2021.
Dr. Canales received his B.A. in Psychology from La Universidad Rafael Landivar in Guatemala, and his M.Ed. in Counseling and Personnel Services and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Organizational Development from the University of Louisville. Dr. Canales brings more than 25 years of experience in international education to his new role, most recently serving as the Director of the Office of International Studies and Programs at Illinois State University. As Associate Provost for Illinois International, he will provide leadership and oversight to the Vice Provost Office and Illinois International units.
Dr. Canales will be replacing Julie Misa, who will retire after 30 years of service to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Please join me in providing Dr. Canales with a warm welcome when he joins us on April 1.
