Dear Deans, Directors and Department Heads,
I’m pleased to share two leadership development opportunities available through the University of Illinois System for the upcoming academic year. Additional information about both programs is included below.
President's Executive Leadership Program
The Office of the President is seeking nominations for the 2026-27 President’s Executive Leadership Program (PELP). The program is designed for senior-level administrators and members of the faculty who have high potential and interest in leadership roles at one of the universities or at the University of Illinois System level.
Participants attend four seminars over the course of the academic year to explore national and state issues related to higher education and to learn about the U of I System and its three universities. The one-year program begins in August and runs through the following April. A brief overview of the program and the four seminars can be found online.
To nominate an individual, please complete the nomination form by May 22, 2026. Nominees will be contacted by my office and asked to complete an application form as part of the selection process.
If you have questions about the program, please contact me (npjones@uillinois.edu) or Sarah Zehr Gantz (szehr@uillinois.edu). Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of nominations for this program.
Public Voices Fellowship
Academic Affairs at the University of Illinois System is now accepting applications for the 2026-27 Public Voices Fellowship. This year-long fellowship, which is part of a broader global initiative, will convene 20 thought leaders of diverse expertise and background.
Fellows will receive extraordinary support, build leadership skills and knowledge, and work alongside journalist coaches to ensure their ideas shape not only the field, but the greater public conversations of our age. An overview of the program can be found online.
To nominate an individual, please complete the nomination form by May 29, 2026. Nominees will be asked to complete the application form by June 5, 2026.
There will be a brief virtual information session on May 28, 2026 at Noon Central. If you would like to sign up, please reach out to Stephanie Shockey.
Best,
Nick Jones
