Dear Colleagues,
Under Policy and Rules Regulation 16.011, civil service staff are required to submit a conflict of interest form annually. A communication was recently sent to all Civil Service employees alerting them to the reporting requirement.
The online form is required to be submitted each year, regardless of whether the employee has an activity to report. Unit heads are required to manage the completion of conflict of interest forms the same as they do for academic employees.
Action Item
If you are the employee’s supervisor or unit head, you are required to review and approve the form. In some cases, the same individual may be both the direct supervisor and the unit head, which requires two approvals. Please be sure to route the form correctly; the form should NOT be routed back to the employee.
Civil Service employees must complete the form by October 31, 2026. They may complete the form alongside their required ethics training during the month of October.
Employees uncertain whether an activity should be reported, should contact ua-rnua-coci@uillinois.edu for guidance. Supervisors and unit heads who have questions about employee outside activities can also contact ua-rnua-coci@uillinois.edu.
Sincerely,
Sarah M. Zehr Gantz, Associate Vice President for Academic Initiatives and Policies
