As you know, Mike DeLorenzo has accepted a new position at UChicago. Lowa Mwilambwe will serve as the Interim Vice Chancellor of Administration and Operations, pending approval by the University of Illinois Board of Trustees. His start date is Sept. 15.
Lowa Mwilambwe currently serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary, Health & Wellbeing within Student Affairs, a position he has held since June 2016. In this role, he oversees the following departments: Illini Union, McKinley Health Center, Campus Recreation, Counseling Center, University Housing, Parking and the State Farm Center (co-managed with the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics). He also chairs the Student Fee Advisory Committee and the repair and replacement review process for all auxiliary departments on the Urbana-Champaign campus.
We plan to launch a national search within the upcoming weeks for this leadership position. Please join me in thanking Mike DeLorenzo for his contributions to our university and welcoming Lowa to the interim role.
