Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to share the Request for Proposals for the 2022-2023 Call to Action to Address Racism & Social Injustice Research Program. This request reflects the second year of our $2 million annual commitment by our university to advance the understanding of systemic racism and generationally embedded racial disparity and to find new solutions. In its first year, the Call to Action is supporting 22 projects representing researchers from both the campus and the greater Champaign-Urbana community and beyond.
For this second year, we remain committed to creating a request that allows the largest number of people an opportunity to apply. To be able to fund a greater percentage of proposals, this year three funding tracks are available, up to $75,000.
I would be very grateful if you would consider sharing this information with interested faculty, staff and community partners. The RFP is now available at https://go.illinois.edu/AddressingRacism.
If you or your faculty have additional questions, there will be an information session on November 10 at 4 pm to review the RFP in detail. A recording will be posted soon after the live session. I hope that you may be able to join us at this session.
My thanks to you for your partnership in this important work for our university and nation.
Sincerely,
Sean Garrick
Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
