First-Generation Institutional Mapping Questionnaire
Dear Illinois family:
We want to thank the many advocates, champions, and supporters of our first-generation students. For many of us, we have dedicated decades of student success support to this ever-growing population. Thus, thank you!
As you may know, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign was designated a First Scholars institution by NASPA’s Center for First Generation Student Success last spring. Upon accepting that designation we committed to enhancing first-generation student success outcomes through systemic improvement. The next step in our advancement process requires us to audit and map our formal roles, services, and programs specifically relating to first-generation student success on our campus. This institutional mapping project will allow us to clarify what and where services are offered as well as determine where potential opportunities for collaboration exist. The project’s findings will be analyzed alongside the results of the Insights Tool Report, which we completed last summer, to refine our first-generation student success priorities and action plan.
To complete our institutional map accurately, we are asking for your help. For your convenience, we have created a feedback tool to help you report on the first-generation student services and programs in your area. We ask that you please complete the above form by Thursday, February 29, 2024.
Thank you so much for your help and continued support for first-generation students. Please let us know if you have any questions about the form or about our involvement in First Scholars.
Sincerely,
Domonic Cobb
Assistant Vice Chancellor, Student Success, Inclusion and Belonging
Chair, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign First-Generation Steering Committee & First Scholars Network
