Dear Colleagues:
As many of you know, 2023 is the year of Reimagining Illinois Human Resources. This year we have implemented new initiatives, established a new organizational structure, as well as the creation of new positions to assist in bringing a more modern approach to IHR.
I am pleased to announce that we have hired two new executive leaders. Bryan Rojek joined us in August in this inaugural Executive Director for Compensation Strategy position. Bryan brings deep expertise, global perspective, and best practice in compensation having led this function in several industries with experience working with union represented employees.
Another key role in our restructuring efforts, Brianna (Bria) Marcelo will join our leadership team on September 25, 2023 as the Assistant Chancellor for Culture, Learning, and Engagement. Bria was previously the Inclusive Education and Strategic Initiatives Director at the University of Iowa. Bria will oversee Faculty/Staff Assistance & Well-Being Services (FSAWS), Employee Learning & Organizational Effectiveness (ELOE), and design our new Employee Experience functional area.
Both new leaders will begin campus visits with key stakeholders and University leadership once they have been acclimated to the university and Illinois Human Resources. We are excited to continue to grow the IHR team, support Operational Excellence, and better serve the University.
Shari Mickey-Boggs
Senior Associate Chancellor for Human Resources
