Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Venkat Allada, Professor of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) will spend the year on our campus as part of the American Council on Education (ACE) Fellows program. To be selected as a host institution by ACE is an honor in itself and recognition of our outstanding reputation as a national leader in American higher education by the organization.
Dr. Allada holds his Ph.D. in industrial engineering from the University of Cincinnati and has been a faculty member at Missouri S&T since 1994. He became the inaugural Vice Provost for Graduate Studies at Missouri S&T in 2007 overseeing the campus creation of a new, central graduate studies office following a major administrative restructuring. Under his ten year leadership, his campus has created a student-centered and student-driven approach to graduate student recruitment, education and support. Under his leadership, total graduate enrollment has grown by 39%, including a 100% increase in doctoral enrollment.
During his fellowship year here, Dr. Allada will be working with members of our senior leadership team in the Offices of the Chancellor and Provost to explore our practices and operations around issues of internationalization, budget reform in light of shifts in public finance models and balancing affordability with sustained academic excellence. Provost Cangellaris, Executive Associate Chancellor Wanda Ward and I will all be working closely with Dr. Allada this year to ensure his experience at Illinois is memorable and productive.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Venkat Allada to Illinois as a 2018-2019 ACE Fellow.
Sincerely,
Robert J. Jones
Chancellor
