Dear Colleagues,
In an effort to support international students who cannot access our campus this fall, a group of international educators at Illinois has developed the International Student Academic Bridge Program to allow international students to have a residential experience in their home country. The Academic Bridge Program was developed in collaboration with the University of Illinois’ study abroad and exchange partners.
This information was shared with international students and Illinois academic advisors last Friday evening. Illinois Abroad and Global Exchange has offered to triage student emails on behalf of colleges who may not have a dedicated international office. However, the individuals below have been briefed on the program and have offered to serve as college-level contacts.
- Ali Freter, College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences
- Gretchen Adams, College of Applied Health Sciences
- Allison Witt, College of Education
- Nicole Turner, College of Fine and Applied Arts
- Elly Hanauer, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
- Katie Clark, College of Media
- Dan Turner, Division of General Studies
- Meredith Blumthal, Grainger College of Engineering
- Nicole Lamers, Gies College of Business
- Joy Phaphouvaninh, Illinois Abroad and Global Exchange (IAGE)
If there are questions that remain on the programs or the process, please don’t hesitate to reach out to either Nicole Lamers (Gies), Elly Hanauer (LAS), Meredith Blumthal (Grainger) or Joy Phaphouvaninh (IAGE) moving forward.
Sincerely,
Reitumetse Obakeng Mabokela, Ph.D.
