I am pleased to announce that Stephanie Vogelsang has accepted the position of Protection of Minors Compliance Specialist. Stephanie will be responsible for leading the compliance efforts involved in the safety of minors participating in university-sponsored programs. This position serves as the focal point for the review and communication of procedures and processes related to university-sponsored minor programs. Stephanie holds a bachelor’s degree in Career and Organization Studies and a master’s of education in Education Policy, Organization and Leadership.
The Protection of Minors regulations have been in place for quite some time. The university requires units to report programs or activities involving minors who are not enrolled at the University of Illinois. If the program or activity is not reported to the University of Illinois Police Department at least 14 days prior to its scheduled start date, it will be subject to cancellation. The appropriate reporting forms and a 5-minute video explaining the policy can be found at go.illinois.edu/protection-of-minors. We encourage you to use the video as a training tool in your unit.
We are enthusiastic about Stephanie’s vision for expanding the University’s Protection of Minors program in the years to come, and we look forward to working with her to increase the awareness and understanding of this important matter.
If you have any questions, please contact Stephanie Vogelsang at the Division of Public Safety, 300-1533, or srvogel@illinois.edu.
